Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt a heavy or uneasy feeling?
Or what about that space that immediately makes you feel warm and comfortable?
Have you ever encountered someone on the street that just gives you ‘the willies’?
Or someone that you feel inexplicably – yet magnetically drawn towards?
Or let me ask you this, have you ever spent the day around someone or something that completely drains you?
What do you suppose this is? Some call it a gut feeling…intuition…your 6th sense if you will.
Energy is everywhere. Surrounding us. Swirling within in us. Attracting and repelling specific outcomes in our lives. The concept of Universal Life Force Energy (Prana, Qi, Ho’omana) whatever you wish to call it, has existed for centuries.
Yet many of us chose to ignore it.
Perhaps because it is an intangible concept that cannot be logically processed so we often dismiss its relevance to our existence.
But the reality is…the more we connect with ourselves and raise our vibrational energy, the more we attract… be it good or bad – so choose your thoughts wisely.
The reality is, life is full of ups and downs, but we are ultimately in charge of how we come out on the other side of these experiences.
So I ask you this…what are you doing to attract more of what you want out of life right now? How are you using your time to create the best version of you possible given the current shitty circumstances?
I know it can sometimes feel hopeless, but know this…you are WAY more powerful than you give yourself credit for. YOU have everything you need inside you to create a world beyond your wildest dreams. ❤️
The energy flow of the Universe certainly works in mysterious ways. Often eliminating that which no longer serves us and subtly (or not so subtly) introducing the next phase of our intended path.
A sudden job loss. A global pandemic. A future of economic uncertainty and many of us are left wondering how we will make ends meet.
For me, March 2020 has been a time of massive reflection. A time that I have used to go deeply inward and figure out exactly what my path forward will be.
The reality is, everyone of us has a unique gift to offer the world. Some of us never lose touch with our true calling, yet many of us spend a lifetime searching for it.
Mindlessly ambling through our days in an effort to acquire the material items that society has deemed as the measures of our success. Yet in spite of such, we seem to remain somewhat unfulfilled with an insatiable quest for the next best thing.
We live in a world of instant gratification where everything, including many of our relationships, have become disposable; a superficial existence with a skin deep connection.
A relationship that exists to serve our own selfish desires and once we no longer see value in, instead of nurturing and prolonging the connection, we move on.
Perhaps we can use this time of isolation to mindfully determine how we’d like our world to look once the Covid19 pandemic passes.
What will you do differently? How will you create happiness?
Considering today’s busy lifestyle, managing all household expectations can often seem like an overwhelming task.
Juggling parenthood, ongoing (seemingly never ending) domestic responsibilities with a demanding corporate career has been challenging even at the best of times. There were often times I had no idea how I was going to accomplish my growing to-do list.
Have you ever felt this way?
The good news, the mind is an extraordinary tool when it comes to planning your achievements and since there is increased psychological research clearly indicating the direct correlation between clutter and its influence on your stress, anxiety and depression, it’s best that we get this sh!t under control.
Here are 5 S.M.A.R.T. Tips to help you manage clutter in your home:
1. Be Specific
So you don’t get overwhelmed, start small and be specific about what you want to accomplish. For example, if you have to open the front hall closet with a sense of apprehension, because you’re not sure what will come flying out at you, perhaps that becomes your first “specific” clutter busting project.
2. Be Mindful
Getting rid of material possessions can be difficult as they often can have sentimental value. However, how many jackets, shoes and purses can one woman own before it’s considered excessive?! (Never mind – don’t answer that.) Select a local charity that can benefit from your gently used clothing and feel good knowing that you are “mindfully” giving new meaning to these items.
3. Be Aligned
Whether on purpose or by accident, we often acquire items that are not inline with our current life goals. The decor that you select for your home should support your intended direction so that you can create an environment that subconsciously nurtures your desires. For example, if you are seeking love, incorporate subtle reminders throughout your home to keep your vibration on that level. Remember, thoughts become things. PS…Now is also a good time to get rid of anything from the ‘ex’ if you’re looking to attract new love. 😉
4. Be Realistic
When you are making your clutter busting ToDo list, break it down into manageable chunks so that you don’t get overwhelmed and take time between your tasks to appreciate the sense of accomplishment.
5. Be Time bound
Procrastination is an easy trap to succumb to. I’m mean who really wants to tackle the junk drawer, storage room, basement, garage – where ever. Out of sight out of mind right? Except, if you’re anything like me, you may not see it, but your inner OCD knows it’s there…lurking in the shadows. Take the time to prioritize your ToDo list and assign an approximate completion time for each task and put it in your calendar. Yup, the one on your phone that pops annoying little reminders at set intervals.
I hope these 5 little tricks help you with getting organized. Let me know what you do when tackling your household chores.
How to make an all natural anti-aging facial serum.
If your skin is a sensitive as mine, you’re likely tired of spending a fortune on products that don’t work. My skin is pretty dry to begin with, so when I moved to Calgary 5 years ago, although I love the mountains, the climate really takes a toll on my skin.
Since I could not seem to find anything that didn’t irritate my skin or provide sufficient or lasting moisture, I decided to make my own.
When you start using essential oils to make your own skin care products, it’s important to note that very few can be applied to the skin “neat” – in other words, without diluting in a carrier oil first.
The amount of essential oils (EO) added to Carrier oil for a facial serum should not exceed 1%.
The West Coast Institute of Aromatherapy
Therefore, I can add 14-20 drops total to 30ml of my carrier oil. If I am only blending with 15ml of carrier oil, I would add 7-10 drops total of my selected essential oils. Etc.
1. Use an anti-aging carrier oil such as:
For my ultra moisturizing (anti-aging) facial serum, I blend 3 types of carrier oils in a 30ml glass bottle in the following quantity:
7.5 ml – Hemp Seed Oil
15 ml – Rosehip Seed Oil
7.5 ml – Evening Primrose Oil
2. Combine with, top anti-aging essential oils such as:
5 drops Frankincense EO
5 drops Myrrh EO
5 drops Neroli EO
5 drops Sandalwood EO
3. OCD Side Note: For accuracy, I remove the plastic stoppers and use a glass pipette for each oil to measure out my drops.
It is important to note that the fragrance of the final serum will change over time. So if you don’t like it initially, I would recommend that you wait at least an hour. Many times I have been pleasantly surprised with how the oils interact with my own body chemistry over time.
As this viscosity of this serum is fairly thick, I use this as my night time skin rejuvenation.
It’s always best to patch test to ensure that you do not have an allergic reaction prior to applying all over your face and then finding out the hard way. 😳
As for the brand Essential Oils you select, you’ll want to ensure that they from are a high quality supplier. I typically obtain my oils from Pure Potent WOW, from British Columbia through my local Natural Food store or True Essence – a local Calgary supplier.
About 17 years ago, I embarked upon the journey of a lifetime. I stumbled across yoga as a way to shed the unwanted “post-partum 50” that accompanied my pregnancy.
Yes, I gained the equivalent of almost 1/2 my pre-pregnancy weight over the course of nine months.🤰
Initially my post-pregnancy wellness journey was solely focused on reclaiming my physical self. However, what I’ve discovered over the past 17 years is invaluable when it comes to total body wellness.
What is Holistic Wellness?
Holistic wellness is an approach to being healthy that looks at a person’s health in a holistic way. This considers their body, mind and spirit. Attention to all THREE is needed to stay balanced. Holistic medicine believes that each of these things work together. If someone has physical pain, their mind and spirit will suffer. If there is a spiritual void, they may get sick.
So often I hear people say that they don’t do yoga because they’re not flexible. Despite what Instagram might lead you to believe, Yoga has nothing to do with flexibility and everything to do with holistic wellness.
Yoga encourages you to honour your body, mind and spirit in the present moment. To let go of competition and judgement and to accept yourself as you are. Everyday will be different, on and off the mat. We must learn to quite our mind, let go of what no longer serves us, including our negative self talk, and persevere.
Yoga has helped me overcome tremendous insecurities. We moved around A LOT when I was younger. In fact, I attended 16 different schools growing up; and kids were usually pretty mean to the “new girl”. Especially the one that didn’t arrive adorned in brand name fashions.
My mom raised us on a shoestring budget, and quite frankly…I have absolutely no idea how she did it, HOWEVER…I want to make one thing VERY clear – I wouldn’t change a thing, nor would I trade it for a life of luxury. Our very modest upbringing gave me the exact tools and mindset required to pave my way to success.
So…as much as a very small part of me would love to call out every naysayer and bully that ever made me feel small, insecure and vulnerable, instead I wish to thank you. Thank you for making me the woman that I am today. Your unkind words have fuelled a fire within that will never be tamed. Oh and Karma…yes, I believe in Karma. 💜
We truly are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for and are often the master of our own limitation. I truly believe that our mindset ultimately determines our success in life.
If you truly want something, you must BE that which you wish to receive.
For Example: If you want to be physically fit, you must BE active and eat well. Yoga, like Life, is a journey…not a destination and every step of the way is either supported by, or detracted from, the choices we make. #choosewisely
What if…just for today…we focused on accomplishing our wildest dreams instead of dwelling on our perceived limitations? Knowing that our mindset and choices have so much power, what would you do?
Typically I would avoid this topic like the plague, however I recently came across an article entitled ‘Why Empaths Always Fall in Love with Potential.’
Although I don’t resonate with being titled an ‘Empath’, since labelling, in my humble opinion, limits potential and often results in people defining themselves within those restricted parameters, the article really made me stop and reflect.
It’s no secret that the four letter L word is not my forte and I often find that I now keep relationships at an arm’s length distance, it wasn’t always this way.
While reading this article, I discovered many of the things that I typically did in my past relationships. Until such a time that I simply shut down and focused on developing a loving relationship with myself.
I would totally fall in love with potential. When, the reality is, exactly as stated at the end of the article, here’s what we really deserve:
“You deserve someone who genuinely sees in you what you see in them. You deserve someone who stays, who shows up, who isn’t wishy-washy with their feelings. You deserve someone who knows what they want. You deserve someone who is honest and genuine and who comes as they are. You deserve someone who never exhausts your heart in a bad way. You deserve someone who loves you the way you love them, who fights for you the way you fight for them. And even if you don’t believe that right now, even if it is hard to fathom, it’s out there for you. And you are worthy of it.”
ZenDecor™ is an eco-friendly, minimalistic interior styling methodology based on the theory that mindful selections can ultimately enhance the energy flow in your environment to encourage favourable outcomes.
Your home is your ultimate sanctuary. A comforting place to return at the end of a hectic day and one where you wake up to find inspiration. As such, there are certain things that you can do to enhance the energy in your home to help attract certain desires.
The ancient art of Vastu Shastra (from India) and Feng Shui (from China) are discovered theories of geomancy that use auspicious, thoughtful and deliberate organizational strategies to enhance the energy around you.
Similarly, ZenDecor™ is also based on the concept that the energy of the universe, know as prana or chi, is ultimately tied to the harmony in our lives. Which means that the characteristics of the places you live, work and play can either encourage or block a positive balance of personal chi, and therefore promote or discourage good health, positive relationships, contentment and success.
As you may know, acupuncturists apply needles to areas of the body to stimulate the flow of energy, and promote harmony and healing. Similarly, a ZenDecor™ Stylist will make suggestions on the placement of items within your interior to do the same. The addition, removal or rearrangement of these items is based on the Feng Shui bagua, or energy map, which reveals the areas of your home that correspond with certain areas of your life.
Feng Shui principles coincide with the 5 earth elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Metal and Wood. Each element has unique energetic properties that help attract certain outcomes. Therefore, the Bagua Map is used to determine how you can balance the energy in your home for optimal results.
Be sure to follow our Blog for ZenDecor™ Tips and Tricks including how you can utilize the Bagua Map on an existing floor plan. Is your home in need of a little ZenDecor™? If so, where would you start?

Good question. Since embarking upon my Yoga journey, I have discovered a whole new world of holistic health and wellness. A world where my mind, body and soul can exist in alignment with and work together to produce the best version of me possible.
If you’ve never been to a Yoga class, experienced a Reiki session or practiced Feng Shui in your home, these concepts will likely be a little out there for you.
However, in the text below, I have compiled (from various sources) a Chakra demystification for you. Read through it with an open mind, and let me know your thoughts. 💜
Chakras (Sanskrit word for wheel) are Energy centres within the body that vibrate and spin to channel energy into the body and Meridians.
Originating in Chinese Medicine, the meridian healing system is based on the concept that an insufficient supply of Qi / Prana (or life force energy) makes a person vulnerable to disease. Restoring the qi to its optimal flow is the ultimate goal in restoring overall health and well being to the individual.
Meridian channels follow the same path that the autonomic nervous system does along the spine. This is also where the Chakras receive and transmit the Universal Energy into and from the body.
Together, your chakras represent your entire self: physical, spiritual and emotional. For this reason, they provide the means by which you can achieve overall balance in your life.
Balancing the chakras is believed to promote general health and well-being by ensuring the free flow of life energy (also known as prana or qi as noted above) throughout the body. It is believed that blockages in the flow of this vital energy will eventually result in mental, emotional, and/or physical illness.
In dealing with a blockage, you need to get the energy moving. When energy flows through the whole body it creates harmony and releases imbalances. Reiki assists with bringing the chakras into alignment and balance. ❤️
