Trauma sensitive yoga classes integrate specific release exercises, breathing techniques, slower movement, guided imagery, and meditation practices that are designed to release trauma stored in the body.
The psoas are some of the largest muscles in the body, and following a stressful situation that activates the body’s fight or flight response (AKA the sympathetic nervous system), the body will naturally try to discharge residual tension in the psoas by having them quiver or shake.
In instances of sustained or prolonged post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the body’s natural response and ability to regulate itself from a state of hypervigilance to a state of calmness can become increasingly difficult to accomplish. Our classes are specifically designed using the sympathetic nervous system’s role in understanding PTSD and trauma-related stress response.
You do not require any previous yoga experience to attend our classes, merely a willingness to enter a journey of self discovery and wellness.
We look forward to having you join us.
